Huddersfield Lions are hoping for a roaring success this festive season.

The club is eager to beat last year’s impressive Santa Dash around Huddersfield and hopes to raise even more money this time.

The one-mile sprint around the town centre will be held on Sunday, December 6 and organisers are hoping for massive public support. They had 200 runners last year and hope to beat that tally.

Participants can run, stroll or saunter around the circuit dressed in a Santa suit - or antlers and red nose for children.

The Dash starts at The Slug & Lettuce with an energetic - and usually loud - warm-up at 10am. The pub will provide space for people to collect their Santa outfits and change.

A generous donation from RRG-Toyota of Leeds Road, Huddersfield, reduces the entry fee by half for all families, charities and companies who join the 2015 Santa Dash and Reindeer Run.

Here are the pictures fro last year's event.

Entry fee is £6 for adults, which includes a Santa suit, and £3 for children aged under 11, which includes antlers and a red nose.

Organiser and Huddersfield Lions member Andrew Thornes said: “This sponsorship will allow so many more people to join in the fun and with so much of our costs covered, every penny which entrants raise through their sponsors goes to their charities.

Here's some more from 2013.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for charities - especially small, local ones. The Lions do all the organising, which may be beyond the resources of some smaller charities, freeing them up to focus on signing up runners.”
