A MAN has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting his granddaughter.

The 62-year-old was before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.

He faces four charges of sexually touching the girl at an address in the town.

He is also accused of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and installing equipment to observe another doing a private act.

Finally, he is alleged to have made 69 indecent pictures of the child.

The alleged offences took place between March 2009 and December last year.

The girl was aged 12 to 13 during these dates.

The girl’s grandfather denies the charges.

Magistrates agreed to commit him to stand trial at Bradford Crown Court.

He will appear before the court on February 27 for a plea and case management hearing.

His bail condition is that he does not associate with a child aged under 16 unless supervised by an appropriate adult.
