FREE swimming is now available for Barnsley residents – with a Huddersfield man heading up the scheme.

Edward Lim is the new swimming development manager for Barnsley Premier League (BPL), who now provides free swimming to under 18s and over 60s at all their venues.

BPL operates five pools at the Metrodome complex, Wombwell Swimming Pool and Hoyland, Dearneside and Royston Leisure Centres, as well as other leisure facilities from golf courses to fitness suites.

Mr Lim, 23, is a fully qualified lifeguard, fitness instructor and special needs swimming teacher, who joins BPL after five years as a duty centre manager.

He also coaches the under 11s Tigersharks swimming squad in Kirklees.

Dave Redfern, BPL’s Leisure Operations Manager, said: “We are delighted to welcome Edward to BPL.

“He is really passionate about helping both younger and older people to get the most out of the free swimming that is now available to them.”
