A HUDDERSFIELD man has been made a director at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The trust, which provides mental health services in Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield, has appointed Peter Aspinall as a new non-executive director.

Business executive Mr Aspinall was formally appointed at the Trust’s Members’ Council’s inaugural meeting on May 1, when the Trust was officially authorised as a Foundation Trust.

Foundation status means the NHS organisation gives the public chance to shape how services are developed.

This is done via the Members’ Council, made up of an elected group of 39 public members, staff and people from other agencies.

The inaugural meeting was held at the National Children’s Centre in Huddersfield.

Joyce Catterick, Trust chair and leader of the Members’ Council, said: “I’m delighted that local people are having a voice in the big decisions we make as an organisation. We are pleased to have Peter Aspinall formally on board.”

Mr Aspinall has worked as a finance director in the carpet industry and has been with the board in a non-executive capacity since last autumn.
