AN OPEN day was held at a Huddersfield mosque to promote understanding of the Islam faith.
Members of the town’s Ahmadiyya community, based at Lower Fitzwilliam Street, invited members of the public to visit and find out more their work.
During the day tours were given around the mosque and visitors got the chance to ask questions.
Faithul Haq said there are now plans to hold frequent open days.
He said: “There are a lot of misconceptions about the mosque but it’s not only a place for Muslims, it’s a place for everybody.
“We’re trying to develop a good relationship with our neighbours and we want to remove the misconceptions and get the message across that Islam is a peaceful religion.”
