A MAN was attacked and mugged for his cycle in Huddersfield.

The 28-year-old was attacked as he pushed his bike along the Huddersfield Broad Canal towpath near the gasworks.

Two men approached him and without warning, he was punched in the face and knocked to the ground.

One of the attackers rode off on his bike while the second searched the victim’s pockets and stole £7 before running off.

The attack happened at 10.30pm on January 21 and police have appealed for witnesses.

Both thugs were described as white men with Mancunian accents. Both were in their 20s and wore dark clothing.

The stolen bike was a red and silver framed mountain bike with dual suspension, black front forks, red rear forks a black front wheel and a silver rear wheel.
