Sixteen jobs are to go with the closure of the Peacocks store at Huddersfield's Piazza Shopping Centre.

The store is one of 224 Peacocks outlets which will close "with immediate effect" with the loss of 3,100 jobs.

It follows the sale of Peacocks by administrators at KPMG to Edinburgh Woollen Mill, which has stores in Holmfirth and Batley.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill has acquired the Peacocks brand, 388 stores and concessions as well as the business’ headquarters and distribution base in Wales.

The deal has protected about 6,000 jobs in the UK.
