A MAN has admitted shoplifting from Poundland in Huddersfield.

Stefan Rychter, 29, of Trinity Street, Huddersfield, appeared before magistrates yesterday charged with theft and failing to attend police bail.

The court heard how Rychter was detected by staff at Poundland, Victoria Lane, Huddersfield on June 30 and July 17.

On both occasions he left the store without paying for goods valued at £10 and £5 respectively.

The court was told he had missed bail because he had a hospital appointment but no records were submitted to the Magistrates to document this.

He pleaded guilty to both theft charges.

Magistrates, who were told the defendant was struggling with an amphetamine addiction, stood down the case to allow for probation to determine suitability for a drug rehabilitation requirement.

The case will next be heard on September 7 at Huddersfield.
