PRIMARY pupils have been crowned school of the week for their rubbish reducing skills.

Youngsters at St Thomas’ Primary School, formerly Bradley Junior and Infants, won an Appetite for Action prize. The children took home a scarecrow kit prize for being the best in the Reduce Rubbish challenge.

The team, dubbed the Green Beans, boosted their green credentials by growing their own fruit and vegetables and installed more recycling and composting facilities.

The weekly competition is being run by environmental charity Global Action in partnership with Sky.
