MORE than 2,000 people in developing countries will now be able to see more clearly thanks to generous donations of unwanted glasses by Huddersfield residents.

The Market Street store of Specsavers is thanking the community after its glasses recycling scheme collected more than 2,000 pairs in support of Vision Aid Overseas last year.

Adrian Hawkins, director of Specsavers, Huddersfield, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and everyone at the store is delighted with the amount of specs we have managed to collect. The glasses will really make a difference.”

Worldwide, 670 million people are hindered by poor vision – 10% of the entire population.
