An upmarket restaurant and wedding venue is set to grow – bringing more jobs to Huddersfield.

The 315 Bar and Restaurant at Lepton has been given the go-ahead to finish its expansion.

Owners of the Wakefield Road premises had already got the green light to build an annexe featuring eight hotel rooms, a spa, a hairdresser, a lounge and other beauty treatment and therapy areas in 2014.

Building work started on the side of the complex.

But the scheme was scuppered after it was discovered a Yorkshire Water pipe was in the way.

Some work had already begun forcing a rapid re-think.

An amended scheme was submitted to Kirklees Council planners in September, which has now been approved.

Chef and manager, Jason Neilson, said: “I’m delighted, I can’t wait for it all to be completed.

“It started over a year ago and then we had to alter things.

“It was a setback – it was quite frustrating at the time as we were all set to open for March.

“But I’m believer that these things happen for a reason and we should have an even better product at the end now.”

Jason said the finished venue, previously the White Horse pub, should offer at least eight more jobs to the area when it opens this summer.
