THE medical director of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust says they have been “stood down” in relation to swine flu.
At a meeting of the board, Yvette Oade said pressure on critical beds had calmed down and advice had come from the Strategic Health Authority.
Director of nursing Helen Thomson said they had learned lessons from the previous flu outbreak.
She added that seeing young people affected by the flu outbreak had made an impression on many members of staff, which had resulted in a surge in staff coming forward to be vaccinated.
They said at present one patient was hospitalised with the flu and “a handful” of staff were off with flu-like complaints.
