Dozens of Scouts went on the march to celebrate St George’s Day.

The eight member groups of the Huddersfield South West district hosted their own parade at Beaumont Park to commemorate the legendary figure, who is the patron saint of Scouts.

Watched by family, friends and other supporters, hundreds of youngsters and their branch leaders marched in a striking line from the lodge gates down to the band stand where a crowd – including Mayor of Kirklees Clr Paul Kane – gathered to sing hymns. The Scouts also renewed their promises.

Huddersfield Brass provided the stirring musical accompaniment.

It was the Scouts’ sixth parade at the park which continues to prove popular.
