A man blasted with a shotgun as he sat in a car remains in a “critical” condition in hospital.

Arfan Mehmood, 31, was shot through a closed window of an Audi A3 parked in Springwood Avenue, Springwood.

The attack happened at 9.30pm on Tuesday, March 11.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said Mr Mehmood’s condition was still “critical.”

Hamed Hussain, 24, of Clara Street, Hillhouse, has been charged with conspiracy to commit attempted murder and was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on March 28.

Two women, aged 31 and 34, arrested in Birkby on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail.

Police inquiries are continuing.
