Two more men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder following the shooting in Springwood two weeks ago.

Detectives announced this morning that men aged 19 and 20 had been arrested in Huddersfield yesterday evening and were currently in custody.

Arfan Mehmood was blasted with a shotgun through a closed window of an Audi A3 parked in Springwood Avenue on March 11.

Police said the 31-year-old victim was still in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Detectives initially made two arrests and one man, Hamed Hussain, 24, of Clara Street, Hillhouse, has already been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

No plea was entered and the defendant was remanded into custody.

He will appear at Leeds Crown Court on Friday March 28.

Police also arrested two women in Birkby on suspicion of assisting an offender. They were later released on bail.

On Sunday, March 16 armed officers were deployed in Huddersfield as part of the hunt for another person in connection with the shooting.

Armed officers were sent to an address on Larch Road, Paddock, at 2.55pm following intelligence that a suspect was at a property.

A man was later arrested but on suspicion of offences unconnected to the gun attack.
