A man is due to appear in court today charged in connection with a gun attack in Huddersfield.

The 24-year-old man will appear at Kirklees Magistrates Court today charged with conspiracy to commit attempted murder.

The charges relate to an attack on Tuesday night in which a 31-year-old man was blasted at close range with a shotgun while sat in a parked car in Springwood Avenue, Huddersfield.

 

The victim was rushed to hospital and had emergency surgery to his head and neck.

He is said to be be in a critical condition.

It is believed the man charged is one of two people arrested earlier in the week.

A 35-year-old man was also arrested.

Following the incident on Tuesday night police traced a Mini and a VW Golf R32, which were believed to be involved.

They were found on Quarmby Road in Huddersfield and at Holthead Road at Slaithwaite.

Officers also conducted raids on properties in both Brighouse and Birkby as part of the investigation.

The Examiner understands that late yesterday police made three more arrests in the case.

A woman, a man and a juvenile were arrested, but all were later bailed.
