HUDDERSFIELD Soroptimist International women’s group has appointed two new presidents.

Anne Chadwick and Jenny Crane were appointed at the group’s annual meeting.

They plan to continue the group’s work supporting women and children experiencing poverty, violence and conflict.

The club supports Huddersfield’s Sweet Project, which works with women and families affected by sex work.

The Soroptimist club provides clothing and other items to the project.

It also supports the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity by collecting used bras to be recycled as part of a fundraising project.

Internationally, the club raises funds for a Soroptimist project in Sierra Leone called Hopes and Homes for Children.

The club hosts social events and speaker meetings regularly at Syngenta Sports and Fitness Club at Leeds Road on Monday evenings.
