TENNIS players served, volleyed and rallied for 24 hours in a row.

James Finnigan and Joe Marriott played singles tennis from noon on Saturday to noon Sunday to raise cash for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Rastrick Tennis Club members took more than 80,000 steps each during a marathon 38 set long match.

And it was 19-year-old Huddersfield University student James who came out on top with an emphatic 35-3 victory.

The friends did the marathon challenge under Guinness World Record rules, allowing them a five minute break every hour.

James and Joe, also 19, spent five months preparing for the physical test including playing 12-hour practice matches.

James said “It was all fine until about 4am and then it just hit us.

“From then it seemed to take forever.

“But we ran around for most of it, we kept moving and trying as hard as we could.”

The duo hope to have raised more than £600.
