TAXI drivers in Huddersfield are revving up for Red Nose Day.
In the lead up to Comic Relief on March 13, the cabbies are sporting huge magnetic red noses on the front of their cars.
Huddersfield Hackney Carriage Association’s drivers Mac Singh, Darshan Singh, Joginder Singh and Ismail Mohammed wanted to do their bit for the children’s charity.
Father-of-two Mac said: “We wanted to show that we support Red Nose Day and raise awareness of the charity.
“There are so many children who are in need out there.
“Most of us here at the taxi rank have kids so we like to know we’re doing something for the kids less fortunate than them.”
The drivers met outside Huddersfield Train Station to show off their noses.
All the magnetic noses are wind tunnel tested to make sure they don’t fall off in bad weather.
They can be bought for £2 from Sainsbury’s, Oxfam or online at www.rednoseday.com
All proceeds raised will help give vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa a helping hand to turn their lives around.
Post Offices are doing their bit for Red Nose Day – now in its 21st year – by accepting donations at branches across the region.
Post Office spokesman Ben Cawley said: “We’re delighted to be once again supporting Red Nose Day by accepting donations at all post offices.
“We’re sure that our customers will welcome the convenience of being able to make a donation at the same time as visiting their local post office to pay bills or withdraw cash”
Donations can be made by cheque, cash or postal order at any Post Office branch across the country.
Currently 31 climbers including celebrities Cheryl Cole, Chris Moyles, Gary Barlow and Alesha Dixon are slogging it out to try and scale Mount Kilimanjaro inTanzania.
The charity show will be aired on Friday, March 13 on BBC1.
Comedians French and Saunders will be making their final appearance together in a movie spoof of Mamma Mia.
Model Kate Moss and actress Sadie Frost will perform a comedy sketch about fashion college students with comedian Katy Brand.
While Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams will do a sketch from their American show.
