THE sun of Marrakech or the rain of Manchester?

No question for Town fan John Thompson.

He’s on holiday in the Moroccan resort with his family – but he’ll be flying back in time to see Town in the play-off final at Old Trafford on Sunday.

And then he’s flying back to the sun to complete his holiday.

It’s an extra £300 but 54-year-old Thompson, a Town fan for the past 44 years, believes it will be worth every penny.

He flew out yesterday to Marrakech with wife Nicola, daughter Annabel, six, and some friends but has already planned his return.

He will be on a flight to Manchester to arrive at 11.15pm on Saturday night and will be in his seat at Old Trafford come 3pm on Sunday.

Less than five hours later, he plans to be back on a plane at Manchester Airport bound for Paris and an eight-hour wait for a connection back to Morocco.

“I’ve been to every play-off game that Town have played in and I had no intention of missing this one.

“Nicola booked the holiday but is okay about me coming back. She’s very understanding about it all, even the £300 bill.

“I was getting worried in last year’s play-offs because we had a holiday booked then, but the defeat at Millwall meant I could go away.

“I think we’ll go up with a 2-0 victory at the end of 90 minutes on Sunday, meaning I can really enjoy the rest of my holiday”.
