Huddersfield Town fans beware. The Vikings are coming!

Town’s unofficial Scandinavian branch is heading for tomorrow’s game against Fulham – but there’s only two of them.

Ruben Almås, 24, and Kristoffer Bognøy, 25, are flying in from Valestrand in Norway for the weekend.

The trip to the John Smith’s Stadium is a birthday present from Ruben’s parents.

Ruben is a builder while Kris is a proud fish smoker for Fossen, the biggest fish smoker in the world.

The duo will be looked after in Huddersfield by Town fans Dave Scholefield and Alan Boothroyd who will take them into the new South Stand ‘singing section’ for the first time.

Dave and Alan met them in London in November 2011 and quickly converted them to the blue and white cause.

“It’ll be great to see them again,” said Dave. “They are two goods lads who love their football and love Huddersfield Town.”

Dave told how their paths crossed in the capital when Town were down to play Charlton in the memorable game where the record-breaking 43-match unbeaten run ended.

Dave said: “We went out for a few beers and got talking to Ruben and Kris in a bar. They had been coming over from Norway to enjoy Premiership football.

“They had been to watch Arsenal but we said that was prawn sandwich stuff and we would show them shopfloor football.

“We said they should come with us the next day to watch our team.”

The following day they met us again and took the unsuspected travellers to some famous watering holes – O’Neill’s across from King’s Cross and Punch and Judy in Covent Garden.

They headed off towards Charlton and ended up taking over a well-known Millwall pub on the way.

Dave added: “They had been to Premiership games but hadn’t experienced anything like what we showed them. They caught the bug.”

Ruben and Kris are amateur footballers themselves and play for Norwegian fourth division side Valestrand Hjellvik. Ruben is a goalkeeper and Kris a midfielder-cum-striker.

As much as the football, what appeals about England is the cost of beer.

“It’s £7 or £8 a pint in Norway so even London prices at £4 or £5 is great for them, but up here it’s happy days,” said Dave.

The Vikings have been to several Town games including Bolton away when then Town midfielder Adam Clayton joined supporters on the terraces.

The pals will meet up before the Fulham game in the Gas Club near the stadium and Dave said: “We’re all looking forward to it.”
