A team of fundraisers, including Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle and manager Mark Robins, set off early today on a walk to raise thousands to take children to the seaside.

Business leaders and corporate sponsors joined club officials in tackling Yorkshire’s Three Peaks.

The 25 walkers met up at Horton-in-Ribblesdale at 6.45am and set out climbing Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent inside 12 hours, a distance of 24.5 miles.

The fundraisers aim to raise several thousand pounds for the Town Foundation.

The foundation, set up by Dean, provides 1,000 free breakfasts for schoolchildren.

Among the fundraisers is Examiner commercial director Paul O’Halloran who has raised £470 for the cause.

Paul said he was inspired to take part after hearing Dean talk about how there were still some children in Kirklees who had never been to the seaside.

“It’s a great cause,” said Paul.
