They were the ladies who lunch.

But their amazing generosity means that their efforts will pay for 12,000 breakfasts to be given out to schoolchildren across Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

Some 180 guests were taken to ‘Wonderland’ at the Town Foundation’s annual ‘Ladies who Lunch’ event.

The Alice in Wonderland-themed event was sponsored for a third year running by Louise Woollard LLP and included a mad hatter’s tea party at Berties in Elland.

The event included a drinks reception and had numerous fundraising activities going on throughout the afternoon – many of which were supported through the generosity of numerous Huddersfield Town sponsors and Town Foundation Friends.

The spectacle of the day was when volunteer models ranging from 3 years-of-age upwards graced the catwalk showcasing fashion from many local retailers.

Local entertainers who took part included musicians, magicians, entertainers, comedy waiters and dancers from various dance schools.

Thousands of pounds were raised and the money will go towards the work that the Town Foundation undertakes in the community to improve the lives of children and young people, such as the ‘Early Kick-Off’ breakfast club project.

Mandy Taylor, the Town Foundation’s Fundraising Manager, said: “Without the support for the third year running of Louise Woollard we simply could not have achieved this huge success which we did on the day.

“I also want to make a special mention to the army of volunteers who gave up their time, skills and good will to the charity.

“There are far too many to mention, however, we must give a very special mention indeed to the team from Barclays, who not only helped on the day but will be donating an addition £3,000 in match funding to help us achieve our goal.

“The amount raised will pay for 12,000 breakfasts at our Early Kick-Off breakfast clubs.”
