TOWN has a new team thanks to the Examiner cash giveaway.

Huddersfield Town Ladies have resurrected their U12 girls team following a £650 grant from the Examiner last year.

The cash was used to buy 15 tracksuits for training and 15 kits for playing.

Trials for players were held in June and the new seven-a-side team played for the first time in the West Riding Girls League in September.

The team, coached by the ladies’ first team goalkeeper Laura Carter, trains at Storthes Hall and plays at Grange Moor FC.

Chairman David Mallin said: “It’s saved us looking for sponsors.

“I think organisations should get in touch to get some money.

“It’s well worthwhile and much easier than I thought it would be.”

This year the Examiner has a huge £50,000 to give away to groups who do valuable work within communities.

The deadline for entries is February 27 – so get your application in as soon as possible.
