HUDDERSFIELD Town legend Andy Booth cut the ribbon to launch a new social club in Lepton.

The £½m revamp sees the former Lepton Liberal Club rebranded as ‘Ashfield’.

Club officials launched the drive for better facilities after complaints that there was no where to go in Lepton.

100 local residents were surveyed by Huddersfield University and their responses were taken into account when the new facilities were designed.

The money for the project was raised through the sale of some adjoining land to a property developer.

The new club features a multi-use function room, big screen sports, and a full-size snooker table.

Quiz and poker nights are offered and theme nights and food are planned.

Trustee, Chris Clarke, said: “We’re on the up at the moment.

“It’s a quality job and it’s looking really smart.”

The club is open from 4pm on weekdays and all day at weekends.

Any local community groups who would like to use the facilities should contact the club on 421532.
