TOWN have smashed through the £50,000 barrier in their bold bid to help the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Their efforts have also netted the same amount for the club’s Academy, making the unique charity deal a big success.

And the Galpharm club hope tomorrow’s big derby against Leeds United will mean a further boost for the Keep It Up campaign.

Huddersfield Town players will be raising money for the campaign by warming up before the game in specially made yellow t-shirts.

Some 250 of the special t-shirts have gone on sale in the club shops, while the shirts being worn by the players will all be signed and auctioned off after the game.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s colours, yellow and red, have also been adopted to make two distinct collectable covers for the Matchday Magazine, Give Us An H.

The Keep It Up campaign was created by Huddersfield Town last year as way to help the Yorkshire Air Ambulance reach their target of raising £7,200 per day to keep the two helicopters in the air.

50p of each £1 raised goes to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and 50p to the Club's Academy.

Commercial Director, Sean Jarvis, said: “This weekend's big Yorkshire derby is the perfect game for supporters of both clubs to show their support for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the life saving service they provide.

“We have raised over £100,000 for the campaign so far which is a fantastic barrier to break and the more money that can be raised to help the Yorkshire Air Ambulance through the Keep It Up campaign, the better.”

In a second bid to help the charity campaign, football freestyle champion and world record holder John Farnworth will be showing his support for Keep It Up.

He will use the big derby game as a stage to try and break a world record.

Farnworth, a regular at half time at the Galpharm Stadium, will be attempting to break his own record for keeping the ball in the air using just his shins – 107 in a minute!

He will then perform his world famous show to a bumper crowd at half time.

The feat will signal the beginning of a competition to raise funds for the Keep It Up campaign encouraging young people from two categories (under 16 & 16 and over) to get sponsored keeping the ball up for as long as possible.

The supporters who raise the most money for Keep It Up will appear on the pitch at Town’s game against Oldham Athletic on April 6.

Farnworth said: “It’s amazing to be involved in such a fantastic charity as Yorkshire Air Ambulance that provides a life saving service to all the people of Yorkshire 365 days of the year.

“The Air Ambulance needs everyone’s help to keep providing this great service and I hope that I can do my bit to help raise something for a charity that really needs it.

“As a football fan and player as well I understand how important the Academy is to the football club too, so I am delighted to do anything I can to help the Keep It Up campaign.”
