A HUDDERSFIELD Town player is due in court today charged with affray.

Lionel Ainsworth attended Nottingham Crown Court yesterday when his seven-day trial was due to begin, but the case was delayed for 24 hours.

The offence is alleged to have happened in Nottingham.

Ainsworth, 21, of Heritage Exchange, Lindley, was one of several people charged in connection with incidents in March which came seven weeks after the death of a young man in Nottingham.

The father of a dead teenager Liam Munn has also been charged with affray.

Liam, 19, died after an incident outside the Halo nightclub in the early hours of January 18.

Karl Munn, 44, will be appearing in court alongside Ainsworth.

Town winger Ainsworth – who is often in the club’s matchday squad – is Liam Munn’s cousin.

Liam’s brother, 21-year-old Ryan Munn, has also been charged in connection with the incident.

Simeon Ferguson, 18, of Nottingham, has been charged with Liam's manslaughter.
