It was five-a-side with a difference – football teams could only walk during a competition at Soccer City.

The Huddersfield Town Supporters’ Association (HTSA) organised a charity walking tournament in aid of the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Brackenhall yesterday.

Town’s team, led by commercial director Sean Jarvis, were beaten 2-1 by Soccer City.

John Sealey, of the HTSA, said: “Walking football is a sport that is becoming increasingly popular and is a lot more demanding physically and mentally than one might expect. The rules are the same as for normal five-a-side football, but if a team member is spotted running by the referee a free kick is awarded to the opposition.”
