PLANNERS will rule on the second stage of Town’s £5m training centre dream this week.

The club wants to establish a state-of-the-art base at Syngenta Sports and Fitness Club at Leeds Road.

Town’s plans include a designated building with 10 changing rooms, IT and video room, offices and investment of more than £100,000 per pitch.

The club has also pledged to improve facilities for Rec Club members and the public.

Town won permission for the first stage of the redevelopment in April when Kirklees Council gave the green light for the relocation of the bowling and cricket pavilions and portable changing rooms to make way for the training centre.

This week planners will decide if the club can go ahead with the second part of the regeneration.

Proposed work includes the installation of a water pump house and water tank and the erection of a three-metre high mesh fence on the edge of the site.

Town has also asked Kirklees for permission to remove the tennis courts and level the playing fields to provide a higher quality surface.

The council’s Huddersfield Planning Sub-committee will decide on the proposal at its monthly meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall at 1pm on Thursday.
