Student satisfaction ratings are rising at Huddersfield University, says a new report.

The university has strengthened its reputation as one of the best in the UK for providing assessment and feedback to students, according to the National Student Survey.

The annual survey shows that overall student satisfaction at Huddersfield has continued to grow and is significantly higher than the national average.

Six subject areas registered 100% student satisfaction rates and a large number of other Huddersfield courses scored highly or showed big improvements since 2014. They were politics, sociology, teacher training, initial teacher training, academic studies in education and technology.

The survey – commissioned by Government bodies including the Higher Education Funding Council for England and carried out by Ipsos MORI – polls almost half a million final year students at higher education institutions across the UK.

The overall satisfaction rate at Huddersfield rose to 88% – up by 3% on 2014 and 2% above the national average.

The university was a top 10 performer among the larger mainstream English universities for feedback and assessment and also registered an 87% approval rate for the teaching on their courses.

Prof Tim Thornton, pro vice chancellor for teaching and learning, said: “We are committed to putting our students’ academic experience at the heart of everything we do. I am delighted that our students have given us such excellent scores in this year’s survey, demonstrating that they really do feel the benefit of that commitment.”
