Torrential rain lashed Huddersfield - and there’s more rainfall on the way.

Weatherman Paul Stevens said the deluge could last for a couple of hours and it followed a very wet night which saw 16mm or more than half an inch of rain hit Huddersfield in just six hours.

Mr Stevens warned of difficult driving conditions for many as the heavy rain swept in from the west.

“There have been a couple of really heavy downpours this afternoon and that could make road conditions hazardous, with surface spray and perhaps some localised flooding.

“It should start to clear after 6pm but the weekend is looking damp and drizzly for much of the time.

“There could be some sunny spells but rain will never be far away and certainly on Sunday, it could be heavy at times”.

Meanwhile Honley Show organisers, hard at work at getting ready for Saturday’s event, tweeted: “There’s a little bit of drizzle out there but who cares. It can be fun getting wet in the summer rain.”
