Huddersfield would rather ban Donald Trump from the UK than close British borders.
That's according to support for petitions signed on the Parliament website — more people signed the form to ban the business mogul than the petition to close the UK borders.
Trump, who hopes to be the Republican presidential candidate in the 2016 US election, recently voiced the opinion that all Muslims should be banned from entering the United States until more is understood about the threat of terrorism from the so called Islamic State (Isis).
However more people in Huddersfield supported banning the billionaire than closing our borders.
The Home Office can, in some circumstances, ban someone from entering the country if their views are perceived to provoke violent reactions or racial hatred.

In total 4,362 people from constituencies in and around Huddersfield have signed the petition to ban Trump from the UK compared to 3,471 people signing the petition to close the UK's borders.

However, in the Calder Valley constituency, support for closing the UK borders was marginally higher than support for the petition to ban Donald Trump.
Across the UK as a whole 537,508 people had signed the petition to block Donald Trump from entering the UK at a rate of 8.3 signatures per 1,000 people in the country.
