A HUDDERSFIELD writer has taken first and second places in a story contest.
Alison Lock made the double scoop at the Sentinel Literary Quarterly Magazine competition.
Her winning entry, Swarm, is set in a fantasy world where the environment becomes irrevocably disturbed when a boy and his father go fishing.
The second-placed piece, Where The Blue Line Fades, is based on the arrival of the Titanic in the Irish port of Queenstown – now known as Cobh.
Both pieces will be published next May in an anthology called Sentinel Champions #10. Alison has also published a poetry collection A Slither of Air, available from www.indigodreamsbookshop.com
Alison is a member of Write Now, an play-writing group based at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.
