In April, AFC Emley striker Ashley Flynn hit global headlines after attempting a Panenka penalty - and failing badly.

For the non-football fans among you, it's named after Czech star Antonin Panenka, who delicately chipped the ball in the 1976 European Championships against Germany. Unfortunately Flynn ended up chipping the ball to the bemused goalkeeper.

In May, a deer was spotted in Huddersfield town centre and managed to evade capture by six policemen - and ended up jumping into Huddersfield Broad Canal and swimming off.

On October 28 Film fans were celebrating Back To The Future day - the day Marty McFly and Doc travel to in the Back to the Future films. Honley man Daniel Knight took to the streets in his very own DeLorean car, just like the one in the film.

In November, a Halifax man had a shock when he opened his curtains to find a COW on the roof! The animal had fallen 20ft from an elevated field onto a first floor sun terrace - miraculously avoiding injury!

Firefighters were called to rescue the stricken cow - and the moment was captured on camera.
