HARD-WORKING volunteer rangers have been recognised at an awards ceremony in Huddersfield.

The team of Greenway Rangers played a key part in last year’s launch of the Kirklees section of the new national cycle network.

Clr David Sheard, Kirklees Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We really value the hard work carried out by the rangers. As regular users of our greenways, they have a vital role to play to make sure that the routes are kept as safe and attractive as possible for cyclists, walkers, horse-riders and disabled people.”

Kirklees are keen to recruit more rangers this year to help look after routes in Dewsbury and the Spen Valley. Anyone interested can contact Lynnette Evans, Kirklees Cycling Officer on: 01484 225611 or lynnette.evans@kirklees.gov.uk
