A HUDDERSFIELD- based charity has been shortlisted for a national award.

The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust has been included in the Third Sector Excellence Awards 2011.

The awards recognise the work of the charity sector and showcase the talent and success of not-for-profit organisations, charities or social enterprises.

The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust has been nominated in the Brand Development category.

It was renamed and re-branded in October 2010 with the support of Huddersfield design company Frank & Alex.

Creative director Jane Moran volunteered her services having suffered from cancer as a teenager.

The charity has also received support from Slaithwaite-based printers Reflex, who printed the majority of the charity’s new stationery and literature free of charge.

The charity’s fundraising manager, Helen Mervill, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award.

“We knew that Frank & Alex Creative Solutions had given us a fantastic new brand, that we have been using proudly since October, but now for this to be recognised by the leading awards in the charity sector is just wonderful.”

Winners will be announced in London on September 28.
