Patients will be asked for their views on a new health centre for Huddersfield.

Members of the public are being asked to join talks over a replacement for the Princess Royal Community Health Centre in Huddersfield.

Due its age and condition and the cost of refurbishment, the centre is set to close.

The centre, at Greenhead Road, was originally used as a maternity hospital.

It is now used to house a range of services such as sexual health, dental, foot health and chiropody, occupational health, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy as well as the Ellerslie child development centre.

Health chiefs say the building no longer meets the standards necessary to provide modern healthcare and the search is now on to find more suitable premises for all of the services which are provided by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and Locala Community Partnerships.

A series of drop-in sessions have been arranged for patients and members of the public to come to Princess Royal and hear about the plans.

They will be asked for their views on where they would like to see services relocated in the future.

Dr Steve Ollerton, Clinical Leader Greater Huddersfield CCG, said: Š“We would like people to come along to talk to us about anything to do with the health centre, whether they want to ask a question, make a comment, find out more or simply tell us something they feel is important to them.”

Barbara Crosse, medical director at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, added: “People may want to talk to us about Princess Royal because they currently use a service provided from there or they may have an interest in the building itself.Š

“They may also want to contribute to our plans for future services.”

The events will take place in the Ellerslie Unit gym at Princess Royal Health Centre on:

Wednesday, October 2: 4pm to 7pm

Tuesday, October 8: 9am to 12pm

Thursday, October 10: noon to 3pm

Saturday, October 12: 10am to noon

People unable to get to a meeting can comment through the services they use or by email to communications@cht.nhs.uk
