HE’S a TV game show regular.

But now Huddersfield’s Morris Simpson is gearing up for his first foray into live TV.

On Saturday night the Sheepridge community worker will appear on Ant & Dec’s Push the Button.

Along with family and friends, Morris will line up for a series of challenges to be in with the chance of winning up to £100,000.

But despite appearing on shows including Deal or No Deal, Morris is nervous ahead of his first live television appearance.

He’ll appear alongside fiance Lisa Ayre, brothers Tshan and Dillian and Melissa McKenzie, Dillian’s girlfriend.

Morris said: “We’re very excited about it, but a bit nervous too.

“We’re not really able to prepare for it as the challenges are very secret, so we don’t know what to expect.

“It’s the first time the others have been on TV but it doesn’t help that I have before because it is live TV and anything could happen – but I’m trying to stay cool.”

One of Team Simpson has already been selected for a task, but Morris won’t know who or what until the live show on Saturday.

“We can’t assign someone on their strengths because it’s not up to us to decide who does what,” he added.

Last week the winners – who Team Simpson will face this week – took part in a Dancing on Ice style contest where they were assessed by Torvill and Dean and awarded points by the TV show’s judges.

Morris has no idea if one of his tasks will be similar.

“It will be a mix of physical and puzzle-solving but we can’t prepare,” he added.

“We all want to go as far as we can and put Huddersfield on the map.”

Team Simpson will compete to win a jackpot of £100,000, but the value decreases as the game show goes on.

Back in 2006 Morris hit the headlines when he was dubbed Poet Laureate by Noel Edmonds when he appeared on Deal or No Deal.

He gambled £101,000 and eventually walked away with £20,000.

And last year he appeared on BBC One’s 101 Ways To Leave a Gameshow.

He plunged into a vat of ice cold water after the first round.

Show presenters Ant & Dec are two of TV’s biggest names.

The pair – Anthony David McPartlin and Declan Joseph Oliver Donnelly – first hit the screens in the Tyneside kids show Byker Grove.

They then had a pop career as PJ & Duncan – the names of the characters they played on the show.

Since then, Ant & Dec have had a very successful career as TV presenters, fronting shows such as SMTV Live, Friends Like These, Pop Idol, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, Push the Button, PokerFace and Britain’s Got Talent.

l Push the Button is on ITV1 on Saturday at 7.45pm.
