TWO Huddersfield singers who were kicked out of the X Factor say they hope to stay together with band Nu Vibe.

And they’re planning a lads’ holiday to Mykonos – where they secured a place in the X Factor finals – to get over their rejection.

Ashford Campbell, of Lowerhouses, and Jordan Higo, of Crosland Moor, were left disappointed after being voted out by the judges on Sunday’s X Factor results show.

The duo are carrying out a host of personal appearances in London this week, including TV interviews, before considering their next step.

Asked if they were going to split up, Jordan, a former Newsome High School and Sports College student, replied: “I’d like to think that we’re going to stay together.

“We have to see what offers we get, we’re hoping a record company will give us an offer but we have to see what happens.”

Ashford, 19, a former Huddersfield Grammar School pupil, was praised by the judges for his leading man qualities.

He said: “I think everything happens for a reason and I think coming together made us stronger. We’ve got five individual singers who are all great in their own right and together I think we’re really good. It’s just a shame it didn’t translate.

“Hopefully we can progress after this amazing experience and go somewhere from here.”

He thanked their X Factor mentor Tulisa (inset below) saying: “She was really disappointed. She told us to keep going, she believed in us and wanted to stay in touch.

“We’re really grateful to have had this experience and to have met her because she is an amazing person.

“We’re devastated but happy at the same time because we’ve come so far and had some of the best vocal coaches and mentors in the business.”

Back home in Lowerhouses Ashford’s mum Bernadette Baptiste said: “He is so thankful to everyone for their support, I know both the boys are. Ashford has been overwhelmed by the support in Yorkshire.

“He is obviously upset and disappointed but he says it was a great experience.

“He’s been to places and got to do things which not many people can do. It’s disappointing that it’s come to an end for the boys.”

She said Ashford always planned to take a year out of his studies but added: “I look at him and think he has star quality.

“He is very academic and loves studying languages but he loves singing too.”

Bernadette wasn’t able to go to this weekend’s live shows but watched at home with family and friends.

She added: “They really did look the part and worked hard together.”

Ashford and Jordan have both backed Misha B to win the show, with Jordan saying: “She brings something different to the show.”

Their mentor Tulisa said of Nu Vibe: “It [getting voted out] wasn’t down to their talent, I think people didn’t get it.”

The judge, who also mentors boy band The Risk and girl band Rythmix, added: “I got too emotionally attached but I’m not regretting that because I’ve got to know five lovely young boys with a lot of talent and it was a pleasure being in their presence for this long.”

Judge Louis Walsh, said: “They need another year and they could be a brilliant band. They’ve got something different and I don’t think they should break up.”

Gary Barlow had said they had ‘no vibe’ when they performed U2’s With or Without You at the weekend.

But Jordan said: “We took Gary’s comments on board. We do have vibe, but everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.”
