PEOPLE in Huddersfield were craning their necks to see the latest addition to the town’s skyline at the weekend.
A massive blue crane has been installed at the Waterfront Quarter development on Manchester Road.
The huge crane dominates the skyline in the Chapel Hill area and can be seen by passing motorists on the ring road.
A second huge crane is also being constructed near the first.
Kirklees College began work in April on a new £73m centre on the site. The 260,000 sq ft campus will sit in a triangle of land between Manchester Road, Chapel Hill and the River Colne.
The college will leave its current base on New North Road when the new campus opens in September 2012.
The college development is the key part of the huge Waterfront site project, set to breathe new life into the area off Chapel Hill.
