Engineers are still working to repair a burst water main in Milnsbridge.

Some homes are still without supplies after the burst on Thursday afternoon.

It is thought several hundred homes and businesses were affected.

And stocks of bottled water have been made available in the area for families,

The burst main caused major traffic problems in part of Milnsbridge and police had to divert traffic around the scene in Dale Street.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “The temporary loss of water supply was as a result of a burst to a trunk main that occurred last night at around 5.30pm.

“Nearly all homes and businesses affected thankfully now have their water supplies fully restored and back to normal, but we would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience this has caused.

“Bottled water has been supplied as an interim measure and is available to collect at Cliffe End Business Park.

“We hope to complete emergency repair work as soon as possible today to restore water supplies to the few remaining properties still affected.

“Some customers may initially notice slightly discoloured water but we can assure it will quickly run clear and poses no health implications.”
