BRAVE Molly Ellis from Meltham was one of 240 young people digging deep to enjoy a new sport.

The youngsters took part in a week of caving and potholing in the Yorkshire Dales.

The event was organised by the Adventurous Activities team at Kirklees Young People’s Service.

The underground trips were led by a qualified cave leader.

They included crawling through stream passages and tight flat out squeezes for the more adventurous.

Those taking part included groups from Kirklees Council youth services and young people from voluntary sector groups.

Team leader Ian Jessop said: “The caving week has been really popular.

“Caving is a good activity for developing confidence and teamworking skills.

“These activities also encourage young people to try healthy activities away from the comfort of electronic games”.
