HUNDREDS of cyclists are set to battle the mud and the mountains for an annual charity challenge.

The 19th Holme Valley Mountain Bike challenge will be launched by Colne Valley MP Jason McCartney at 9am on Sunday

As many as 400 mountain bikers are expected to take on the gruelling 32-mile ride.

The cyclists will begin at Hade Edge common and head east to Dunford Bridge before looping back round through Scholes, Hinchliffe Mill, Holme and past Ramsden Reservoir.

The popular ride is organised by the Holmfirth Scouts group who are also set to make sizeable donations to the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue team and St John Ambulance.
