Hundreds sign on to protect Mirfield Library

HUNDREDS of residents have backed their town’s library.

Councillors last night received a petition calling for Mirfield Library to be spared the axe.

Roger Johnson collected 787 signatures in the town between December 10 and December 18.

He is concerned that Mirfield Library will fall victim to the public spending squeeze.

The petition was presented at Huddersfield Town Hall last night by Clr Martyn Bolt.

The Mirfield Conservative said: “A detailed analysis has objectively concluded that Mirfield Library is one of the best-performing libraries in Kirklees.”
