A CONMAN stole hundreds of pounds from a local family.

He posed as a gardener offering to do work for the Liversedge family but disappeared with their cash.

Now Dewsbury CID are appealing for information about the bogus caller.

It was at 1pm on August 18 that the man called at the home of two brothers and their sister, who are all in their 60s, on Thomas Street in Liversedge.

The caller was offering gardening work and agreed a fee of £500 with the victims, who paid the suspect £250 as a deposit.

The suspect said that he would be back in an hour to do the gardening, but never returned.
