A WOMAN accused of theft and an alleged drink-driver are the two latest bail bandits named in the Examiner.

They are the latest in a number to be named under a scheme pioneered by Kirklees CID intelligence unit and the newspaper.

Bail bandits are people who have been charged with offences but who don’t turn up at court.

They then tie up valuable police time as officers try to catch them.

After their names have appeared in the Examiner some have turned themselves in while others have been caught after tip-offs from the public.

Police have strongly urged anyone who is wanted on warrant to turn themselves in now or face having their name in the Examiner too.

Jarnail Singh, 46, was charged with drink-driving, but failed to appear at Huddersfield Magistrates Court on March 28.

He was last known to be living in Crescent Road, Birkby.

A woman failed to appear at the same court on May 9 after she was charged with theft.

Harjinder Sidhu, 34, was last known to be living on Lowerhouses Lane in Lowerhouses.

Anyone with information about either of them should contact Det Sgt Carter direct on 01484 436675, the police switchboard on 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
