A CHARITY golf day run by retailer Iceland Foods has raised £100,000 for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

The latest donation by the firm, which has Grange Moor-born Malcolm Walker, pictured, as its chairman and chief executive, brings Iceland’s total donations to the charity over the past four years to more than £420,000.

Finance director Tarsem Dhaliwal presented the cheque to Owen Sharp, chief executive, at The Prostate Cancer Charity.

The £100,000 was raised by a day of golf last September at Carden Park Hotel, Cheshire.

The event featured more than 250 of Iceland’s suppliers and a gala dinner attended by more than 340 guests.

Mr Walker, whose Iceland chain includes stores at Aspley and Trinity Street in Huddersfield, said: “We would like to extend a big ‘thank you’ to everyone involved with the event, which raised such a tremendous amount of money for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

“As always, it was a fabulous day and Iceland is delighted to continue its support for the excellent work that the charity does for those suffering from the most common cancer among men in the UK.”

Mr Sharp said: “We are thrilled to have been part of Iceland’s Charity Amateur Golf Classic and our thanks go to everyone involved with the event and who helped to raise such a fantastic contribution to our work.”
