VETERAN Giants fan Ida Rothery will be heading to Hull tonight – with more reason than most for a Huddersfield victory.

For Ida, a sprightly 82, is the woman who has helped get thousands of Giants fans to games over the past 20 years.

She is the brains behind the Fartown Flyers, the travel club that organises coaches for away games.

Ida, of Huddersfield, will be on board one of the three coaches leaving town later this afternoon for the play off match at the KC Stadium.

She said: “I think we’ve a chance of doing well, because we have been playing very well in recent games.

“But Hull are a very good side, with some good players.

“We always get a warm welcome in Hull and the new stadium is a great place to go”.

Ida has followed the town’s rugby league team since the glory days of Fartown in the 1950s when they won the Challenge Cup.

Her husband Brian, who died five years ago, was a fan from the age of seven.

And the couple’s son David is still a fan even though he now lives in Germany. He watches the games on his laptop computer.
