A NEW councillor toured her patch with local beat bobbies.

Rastrick ward councillor Christine Beal joined forces with two police officers to look at the problems in the area.

One of their main concerns was the problem of speeding on Huddersfield Road at its junction with Daisy Road.

Clr Beal spotted a speed register sign which wasn’t working and said she would ask for a new one.

They then spoke to shopkeepers about the problems with antisocial behaviour of youths congregating around the shops.

The shopkeepers raised the issue of graffiti and dog fouling, which Clr Beal said she would look into.

She also said she would look into alternative uses for some unused space as a meeting area for teenagers, after they requested the recreational area at Thornton Road be updated with new equipment.

While they were talking to residents, police dealt with a motorcyclist who had come off his bike and helped a driver whose car had broken down.
