WANTED: Ideas on how to make Kirkburton a better place.

Bright sparks with suggestions are being urged to tell Kirklees Council's committee for the area.

Its next meeting is on Wednesday, August 11, at 7.30pm at Flockton Parish Church, Barnsley Road, Flockton.

Encouraged by Shelley's recent success as Yorkshire Village of the Year, the committee is keen to obtain views.

An action plan will be drawn up to tackle local priorities such as crime and community safety and transport issues.

Clr Christine Smith is the new chairman of the area committee, which includes six members of Kirkburton Parish Council.

She said: "I am very pleased to take on this new role at such a promising time.

"There are several interesting projects being developed."
